  1. At your current registrar:
    • Ensure your domain is not within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer, if it is, you will need to wait-out this period before transferring,
    • Unlock your domain,
    • Ensure your contact information is correct,
    • Obtain the EPP/Auth code,
  2. At Lightspeed Hosting:
    • Initiate the transfer using Lightspeed Hosting’s transfer tools,
    • You’ll be prompted to select which Nameservers (NS) to use. If prompted, ensure you copy the Nameservers from your current provider. If you have any questions at all, contact Lightspeed Hosting for assistance.
  3. Your current registrar may contact you (e.g. via email) to verify that you’ve chosen to transfer your domain out. This may also appear as a prompt in your current registrar’s web console. You’ll need to approve this transfer.
  4. The process to transfer may take 5-7 days to complete.

DNSSEC (DNS Security) can make the transfer process more challenging and has the potential to break your DNS if not done correctly.

If the response is ‘unsigned’ you’re good to go. If the response is ‘signedDelegation’, you’re probably going to need our help.
